The T-shirt in question, sold by Marc Jacobs, is a product of somewhat controversial beginnings. It starts with French graffiti artist and serial attacker of fashion’s capitalist regime Kidult, giving one of his signature makeovers to the SoHo Marc Jacobs store. Kidult has been on a mission and has previously hit the stores of Christian Louboutin, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton, but none have been able to spin his attack like Mr Jacobs.

Kidult spray painted “ART” on the face of said SoHo store, but instead of Jacobs reaching out to his legal team, he reached out to his designers and created the “Art by Art Jacobs” picture T-shirt. Pure Genius! The Picture Tee is right on trend at the moment with many designers jumping on the bandwagon, but none have done so in such an elaborate and expensive fashion. This T-shirt was created using DTG printing, a method which allows you to print photographic images onto garments and a method we use here at Light Prints.

Now T-shirt Tuesday LOVES a bit of controversy and this story has had the Global street wear scene and the Haute-Couture fashionistas gassing like no one’s business, so if you have a spare $689 holla at Marc, if not holla at us and we can help you produce you very own work of art.

This week’s T-shirt takes a look at HUF’s first release of the series in collaboration with photographer Joe Brook. A major player whose 15 years of experience includes time as the photo editor and lead photographer for SLAP magazine as well as contributing photographer for Thrasher Magazine. This piece is of particular significance as it features a screen printed black and white photo of HUF founder, Keith Hufnagel during his first visit to New York City in 1997.

The accessories design team over at JC must really be working overtime as they also released a very cool vanilla scented, Chanel themed, Cupcakes crossbones logo Air Freshener. I for one will most definitely be trying to get my hands on one. I love the Chanel theme and the simple monochrome colour way. Johnny Cupcakes is a bakery inspired streetwear brand based in Boston which recently opened a store over in Carnaby Street showcasing their sugary treats. Over here at Light Prints getting food on our clothes happens a bit too often, these Tees are sure to get to get your belly rumbling.
